“The Greener Hornet?”
Written by Rachel on July 31st, 2010

“The Green Hornet” is not a drug comedy, but star and co-writer Seth Rogen knows he will have to remind people of that again and again between now and the film’s January release.

“It might be the only movie we have without any explicit pot references,” Rogen said, referring to himself and writing partner Evan Goldberg, a tandem that has given the world the bong-hit cinema of “Superbad” and “The Pineapple Express.” This film’s emerald title led to a lot of hemp wisecracks from the cast and crew.

“Yes, there were a lot of jokes flying around the set about the name of the movie — jokes that the studio begs me not to make. But I will.” Rogen, with a wink, added that his masked man and Kato might go the Cheech and Chong route for “Green Hornet 2.” “If they let us do an R-rated sequel, maybe we can go there: ‘The Greener Hornet.’

“Pineapple Express 2″ Coming Soon?
Written by Rachel on July 29th, 2010

Budgeted at $27 million, “Pineapple Express” went on to make $87 million at the box office, now it sounds like fans can possibly look forward to a sequel. Evan Goldberg, Seth’s writing partner, sounds off on his thoughts belows:

“Pineapple 2″ is something that we pressured the studio to do for a while, and they require no pressure. Everybody wants to do it, it’s just we all have the chance after the success of those movies to do whatever they want, and everybody took that chance, and they made ‘Your Highness’ and Judd went and made ["Funny People"] and we went and made stuff. I would not be surprised if we all got back and made ‘Pineapple 2.’

We have the whole story planned out. But I don’t know, it’s still a toss up. Because that movie I’m very proud of, I don’t want to tamper with it. It kind of begs a sequel, but I don’t know. ‘Pineapple ’2 is the most likely [Judd Apatow-produced project] with us all. We kind of made the classic mistake of people who had a successful film: we then booked everything we could because we thought it’d be our only chance. It still could be our only chance, but man are we booked.”

Seth and Jonah Set for a “Sausage Party”
Written by Rachel on July 27th, 2010

Evan Goldberg, the writing partner of Superbad actor Seth Rogen, has revealed that the team behind Superbad and Pineapple Express are set for a host of new projects. According to the writer, new films include a “top secret super project” called Sausage Party.

“I can tell you no more….but it involves Seth [Rogen] and Jonah [Hill] who star, and Conrad Vernon (voice actor from Monsters Vs. Aliens and Shrek Forever After) and Mark Osborne (director of Kung Fu Panda) are involved,” Goldberg told The Playlist.

He added: “We’ve written that, we’ve finished and are going out to studios with now. We’re very passionate about it. Sausage Party is very special to us.”

Goldberg also explained Rogen is also hoping to get his 2007 short film, Jay And Seth vs The Apocalypse, made into a feature film, starring The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’s Jay Baruchel. (Source)

Seth & Evan to Direct “Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse?”
Written by Rachel on July 26th, 2010

Seth Rogen has told MTV that he and collaborator Evan Goldberg might direct their next comedy, “Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse”, based on a trailer they created with Jay Baruchel. The concept is clever: After the world ends the only two surivors are Jay and Seth…but they really don’t like each other all that much. Simple, but plenty of room there for stuff to happen.

“It takes years to write a goods movie, that’s what we’ve learned,” Rogen said of building the post-apocalyptic comedy. “We’re finally going to script form. Once you’re there, you’re kind of on the home stretch. It means you have the key ideas to build the movie,” he added. “I think me and Evan might direct it, which might be a big step for us.”

Seth & Evan Provide Tips to Survive Comic Con
Written by Rachel on July 17th, 2010

Navigating the biggest pop-culture convention in Southern California can be tricky. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the writing duo behind “Superbad” and the upcoming “The Green Hornet,” in which Rogen plays the titular newspaper publisher turned superhero, offer their advice for making it through the long weekend unscathed. Look for them Friday, when they’ll appear on a panel with director Michel Gondry and other members of the “Green Hornet” cast and crew to discuss the film, due out in January.

1. Wear way more deodorant than you think you need.
2. Guys, don’t assume you can use the girls bathroom. There’s chicks at Comic-Con now!
3. Beware of extremely chilled-out dudes. San Diego is chock full of them.
4. Apparently they’re having some comic book stuff there this year. If you can find it among all the movie booths, check it out.
5. Do not, under any circumstances, unsheathe your sword.
