Lionsgate released an official TV spot of 50/50, which is an original story about friendship, love, survival and finding humour in unlikely places, inspired by personal experiences. Golden Globe nominee Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emmy nominee Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis. Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick, Golden Globe nominee Bryce Dallas Howard and Oscar winner Anjelica Huston complete a top-notch starring cast in this warm and uplifting comedy drama which will open in UK cinemas on 25 November 2011.
Actor Seth Rogen has landed a raunchy role in his wife Lauren Miller’s new comedy – as a saucy airplane pilot. The funnyman recently began shooting scenes for upcoming movie For a Good Time, Call…, and admits it was the first time he has had a chance to work with Miller, who he married last month.
He tells Esquire magazine, “She (Miller) wrote this movie called For a Good Time, Call… about two girls who start a phone sex line, and I play one of the callers, an airplane pilot. We were figuring what kind of people would actually call phone sex lines and we thought airplane pilots probably do. They’re on the road a lot.”
And Rogen insists working with his wife was a fun experience: “She was very nice to me on set. She didn’t yell.”
Joe and Seth Rogen sat down with Peter Travers to discuss 50/50. The stars also joked with Peter Travers about the film’s alternate title. Take a look below:
In a recent interview, Seth spoke about the movie that he’s been trying to get off the ground for some time which had the title, Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse. He let fans know that the title of that movie will now simply be Apocalypse.
Seth also mentioned that the script is now complete and although the movie doesn’t have funding, they hope to start filming in February 2012. The cast list for the movie continues to grow with both Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel on board to star as well as write and direct. Also linked with the project are James Franco, Danny McBride and Jonah Hill.
Apocalypse is based on a short film which Baruchel and Rogen made back in 1997. The trailer for it is below:
The Jamie Travis directed film, For a Good Time, Call … has officially begun filming! The movie stars Seth alongside Justin Long, Ari Graynor and Seth’s wife Lauren Miller. Written by Lauren Miller and Katie Anne Naylon, fans can expect this film to hit theatres in late 2012.
Lauren and Katie, college frenemies with a mutual good friend, move in together at age 28 in order to afford an amazing Gramercy Park apartment. The unlikely pair start a phone sex line and become best friends while learning about this hilarious world of vibrators, fake orgasms and nighttime callers. When the hot line is hung up and reality comes calling, the most meaningful relationship of their lives is put to the test.
Seth and his 50/50 co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be appearing on the Daytime talk show, Anderson tomorrow (September 28th). Seth and Joe will be there to promote their latest project as well as to discuss cancer and how it has affected them personally.

Barbra Streisand is not the first person — or, for that matter, the 87th person — one normally thinks of as a potential co-star for Seth Rogen, the guy who toked up with James Franco in The Pineapple Express and stars opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the upcoming 50/50.
But Rogen and Streisand have indeed worked together in a road trip buddy comedy called My Mother’s Curse, which is in post-production and due out next year.
While chatting with Rogen and his friend and screenwriter Will Reiser for a longer piece about “50/50,” which will be online soon and in The Post’s Sunday Style section this weekend, he talked about the film and how — as random as it might sound — he converted Streisand into a Coming to America fan.
“It goes against every type of instinct you would think I would have, to do a movie like that with Barbra Streisand,” he said of “My Mother’s Curse.” “It’s not dirty. There’s no swearing in it. But to me, an exploration of the mother-son dynamic in that way was something I had never seen before.”
Rogen said he hasn’t seen the finished film yet and looks forward to seeing an initial cut in the coming weeks.
On working with Streisand, he said: “It was great. She was really fun, honestly.” When asked whether she had seen any of Rogen’s movies, he said: “I think she watched ‘Knocked Up,’ she said. And ‘Pineapple Express’ she actually really liked, which was surprising to me.”
Then he launched into this gem of an anecdote:
“She’s a huge movie fan. We could talk about movies all day. She actually watches movies. Like she had never seen, ‘Coming to America,’ and so I told her she should watch it. And the next day she came to work and she had watched ‘Coming to America.’ And she loved it. It was really — she’s like, ‘Did Eddie Murphy really play all those guys in the barbershop?’ It was funny having the ‘Coming to America’ conversation 15 years after the fact, but that’s what it was. Yeah, we got along really, really well.”
Canadian comedy star Seth Rogen plans to team up with some of his old pals next year as he co-directs a feature film he created with his longtime writing partner, Evan Goldberg.
The Vancouver native says The Apocalypse — based on a short film he and Goldberg made years ago called Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse — has a “substantial” cast that includes former collaborators Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill and James Franco.
“It’s a movie about a bunch of friends who are stuck in a house together as the apocalypse happens outside and they kind of barricade themselves in,” Rogen said in an interview to promote the comedy-drama Take This Waltz at the Toronto International Film Festival Saturday.
“They think they’ve kind of survived the worst and then they realize they all really can’t stand to be around each other as they’re stuck in this house together.”
Rogen, 29, described the film as a “horror comedy” and said they plan to shoot it next February.
The project is “so personal,” he added. “It’s all our friends, luckily, and we all play ourselves in the movie. … I literally play Seth Rogen in the movie and Jay Baruchel literally plays himself in the movie and others — Jonah Hill, James Franco — they’re literally playing themselves in the movie.”
“It’s a very strange movie, but it’s gonna happen,” Rogen said with his trademark yuck.
They call it “The Festival of Festivals,” the nicest possible way of saying that most of the big films to play at the London Film Festival have already premiered elsewhere. They call it a People’s Film Festival, because anybody can buy tickets, fairly easily if not exactly cheaply.
This morning, the full lineup for this year’s fortnight of films in London’s not-exactly-glittering West End were announced and, yes, many of them were familiar from the rosters of other fests around the world but, honestly, that goes beyond being a First World problem to being more of an Ivory Tower Niggle.
