Seth & Evan Provide Tips to Survive Comic Con
Written by Rachel on July 17th, 2010

Navigating the biggest pop-culture convention in Southern California can be tricky. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the writing duo behind “Superbad” and the upcoming “The Green Hornet,” in which Rogen plays the titular newspaper publisher turned superhero, offer their advice for making it through the long weekend unscathed. Look for them Friday, when they’ll appear on a panel with director Michel Gondry and other members of the “Green Hornet” cast and crew to discuss the film, due out in January.

1. Wear way more deodorant than you think you need.
2. Guys, don’t assume you can use the girls bathroom. There’s chicks at Comic-Con now!
3. Beware of extremely chilled-out dudes. San Diego is chock full of them.
4. Apparently they’re having some comic book stuff there this year. If you can find it among all the movie booths, check it out.
5. Do not, under any circumstances, unsheathe your sword.

Seth Praises Cameron Diaz
Written by Rachel on July 15th, 2010

Seth Rogen “couldn’t believe” he got to star in a movie with Cameron Diaz. The Hollywood funnyman admits he was shocked when the sexy actress agreed to join the cast of The Green Hornet.

“We couldn’t believe we got her to be in the movie,” says Seth. “It was a real pleasure every day but it was surreal. It’s one of those things that’s crazy, too … ‘I’m talking to Cameron Diaz right now!’

“I was really in awe of her but she’s a true delight to work with. She’s really funny. She’s just great.”

2010 Comic Con Panel
Written by Rachel on July 9th, 2010

Comic Con has announced the lineup for Friday, July 23rd, and included in the list of panels on that day is “The Green Hornet.” Some exciting new, Seth will be participating, along with Christoph Waltz, Michel Gondry, Evan Goldberg, and Neal H. Moritz:

4:00-6:00 Sony Pictures Entertainment: The Other Guys and The Green Hornet
Two more sneak peeks at upcoming films from Sony Pictures Entertainment! Hall H

The Green Hornet – Director Michel Gondry, who makes movies with a special, personal signature, is taking on The Green Hornet – and he’s doing it in 3D. Comic-Con audiences, prepare yourselves.

In The Green Hornet, Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the son of L.A.’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene-until his father (Tom Wilkinson) mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employees, Kato (Jay Chou), they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. To get close to the criminals, they come up with the perfect cover: they’ll pose as criminals themselves. Protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets.

Confirmed to appear in person to unveil this early look at The Green Hornet in 3D are the Hornet himself, Seth Rogen, director Michel Gondry, writer Evan Goldberg, producer Neal H. Moritz, and actor Christoph Waltz.

“Entourage” Producer Originally Wanted Seth
Written by Rachel on June 24th, 2010

The catty back-and-forth between Seth Rogen and Entourage executive producer Doug Ellin is more interesting than anything that has happened on the show in a very long time. In an interview with TV Guide, Ellin claims that he harbors no ill will toward the actor, who told GQ in 2008 that Entourage wasn’t funny. In fact, Ellin says he originally considered Rogen for the part of Turtle.

“I’m a fan of Rogen’s,” Ellin said, “I had seen him in Undeclared, and I said to our casting director, ‘There’s a Midwestern kind of guy who I think would be funny for this show.’ But then we found Jerry [Ferrara, who plays Turtle], so we went that way.”

As for the Turtle quip in a 2009 episode that Rogen’s “ugliness is oddly fascinating” (which resulted in Rogen calling Ellin a “moron” and “asshole”), Ellin said that, despite his appreciation for the actor, he couldn’t let Rogen completely off the hook for his GQ comment: “If he’s going to say the show sucks, I’m going to say he’s ugly,” Ellin explained. Ellin’s contention he has no problem with Rogen is also a bit hard to take considering he has now forever linked the actor to a character Rogen went out of his way to bash in the episode of The Simpsons he wrote. Jimmy Kimmel Live! Appearance
Written by Rachel on June 23rd, 2010

Below is Seth’s (web cam) appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. As previously mentioned, Jimmy’s show had lost power and was unable to air “properly” on TV. Holding his computer in one hand, his guests holding their own microphones, Kimmel interviewed Seth Rogen, Wipeout‘s John Henson, and had music guest Dierks Bentley perform an acoustic tune. Rogen was up for the challenge:

Sarah Silverman to Play Seth’s Sister?
Written by Rachel on April 28th, 2010

I know Sarah Silverman was bummed that her Comedy Central series “The Sarah Silverman Show” was canceled as she had said it was the only thing, besides standup, that left her creatively fulfilled. But with her series out of the way, she’s got time to concentrate on other endeavors like her burgeoning film career. Silverman is currently in talks to co-star with Seth Rogen and Michelle Williams in the dramatic film Take This Waltz.

Rogen has been spreading his wings with different types of projects (like The Green Hornet and the untitled cancer film he’s working on with Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Waltz is no different. The indie project was writte and will be directed by Sarah Polley and follows a woman (Williams) who constantly struggles with infidelity and what that means to a new guy she meets (Rogen) who she falls in love with. Silverman will play Rogen’s sister who presumably gives him some sage (and humorous) advice.

Filming on “Waltz” is expected to begin this summer in Toronto after Rogen wraps his “cancer comedy” film. Silverman is out promoting her new book “The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption and Pee” while Polley can be seen acting this summer in SPLICE. (Source)

Seth Rogen Talks ‘Green Hornet’ Going 3D
Written by Rachel on April 26th, 2010

Seth Rogen spoke recently about the delay of his film ‘The Green Hornet’ and the “augmentation” of the film to 3D.

“[Co-writer] Evan Goldberg, [director] Michel Gondry and myself could not be more excited about going 3D,” he says. “The truth is that this is something that we have wanted since the very first conversations we all had about the film. A lot of the visually driven sequences Michel came up [with] were first conceived for a 3D movie. After watching the first third of the film and working with Sony Imageworks, the studio decided now would be a perfect time to commit to 3D.”

Rogen also talks about the difference between augmenting a film to 3D and converting one, which apparently is to do with the effects.

“None of the effects shots have been started, none of the blue screen shots have been composited, and this lets us do all of it in 3D,” he explains.
