Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the son of LA’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene – until his father (Tom Wilkinson) mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employees, Kato (Jay Chou), they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. But in order to do this, they decide to become criminals themselves – protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets.
Using all his ingenuity and skill, Kato builds the ultimate in advanced retro weaponry, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car equal parts firepower and horsepower. Rolling in a mobile fortress on wheels and striking the bad guys with Kato’s clever gadgets, The Green Hornet and Kato quickly start making a name for themselves, and with the help of Britt’s new secretary, Lenore Case (Cameron Diaz), they begin hunting down the man who controls LA’s gritty underworld: Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz). But Chudnofsky has plans of his own: to swat down The Green Hornet once and for all.
The Green Hornet stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Christoph Waltz, Cameron Diaz, Edward James Olmos, David Harbour and Tom Wilkinson.

Someone make a dinner reservation for James Franco, Seth Rogen, David Gordon Green and the rest of the folks involved in “Pineapple Express,” OK? That’s the first stumbling block preventing a sequel to their 2008 comedy, and not until everyone breaks bread together will there be any hope of “Pineapple Express 2″ kicking into action.
“We talk about it all the time,” Green, who directed the film, told MTV News while promoting “Your Highness” at New York Comic Con. “We keep talking to the studio. They’re going to organize a dinner someday. This dinner has been talked about for about two years now, where we’re going to get together and throw all the millions of ideas we have into a pot and see if there’s any reason to make that movie.”
While hanging out in our skybox at NYCC, Green revealed a few story ideas that, in our humble opinion, most definitely seem a worthy extension of the story of two stoners – Franco and Rogen – pulled into the violent world of high-stakes marijuana dealing.
“The most interesting spin is to go in the ‘Scarface’ direction,” Green told us. “I want to see them in the Miami coke scene. It could get a little gruesome.”
“Or take it in the ‘Clear and Present Danger’ direction and go to South America,” he added.
Green’s not the only one interested in a sequel. Franco told us earlier in the year about his enthusiasm for another “Pineapple,” and Evan Goldberg, who co-wrote the original script, is excited as well. And Rogen told us, “Of all the movies we’ve done, that’s the only one that I would actually like to do a sequel to and we talk about it.”
For now, though, Sony Pictures has got to get all these guys around a dinner table. “There are a few avenues that are maybe worthy of a little bit more than a barroom napkin scribble of an idea,” Green said.
At the New York Comic-Con, Sony is showing an action-packed clip from their upcoming “Green Hornet” film, which stars Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou, and Christoph Waltz. The video is recorded by a camera and is basically without sound, but you can check it out below.
Plot: The story follows the adventures of Brit Reid (Rogen). A wealthy publisher of The Daily Sentinel by day, Reid roams as a masked crime fighter by night, dedicated to protecting the lives and rights of the city’s citizens. Reid is accompanied by Kato, a chauffeur/bodyguard/personal assistant during business hours who transforms into a masked sidekick with a knack for martial arts when the sun goes down.
“The Green Hornet” is directed by Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and is scheduled to hit 3D and 2D theaters on January 14th, 2011. (Source)
Six years have passed since we’ve seen the smooth moves of teen geek heartthrob Napoleon Dynamite. But 20th Century Fox is bringing the character back in all of his nun-chuck and computer-hacking glory with an all-new animated series arriving next year.
With director and co-writer Jared Hess executive producing the show and Jon Heder and other actors returning to reprise their beloved characters, we’re absolutely excited to see what the series has to offer — so much so that we’re already thinking about other movies that would make for great cartoon shows!
Check out some of our suggestions for movies-turned-cartoon:
“Superbad”
Two words: more McLovin. The world has not had enough of Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s filthy-mouthed teen hero, nor has it had its fill of the sexually-charged exploits of social outcasts Seth and Evan. With Michael Cera and Jonah Hill on board — not to mention occasional cameos from Seth Rogen and Bill Hader — a “Superbad” cartoon show would be super good.
Just wanted to make a quick webmasters note: I will be away from Friday, October 8th until Tuesday, October 12th. Updates will be little to none during this time as I am going out of town.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Regular updates will resume when I return!
Seth Rogen is engaged, Life & Style reports. Life & Style’s press release follows:
It’s a happy ending for this funnyman! Life & Style can exclusively reveal that actor and writer Seth Rogen, 28, has proposed to his longtime girlfriend, writer and actress Lauren Miller, also 28.
“He surprised her with the proposal,” a friend of Seth’s tells Life & Style. “She’d started giving up hope that he would ever pop the question.” Seth asked Lauren – whom he’s been dating since 2004 – to be his bride just last week, after the two returned from visiting family in Boston. “Her family adores him; everyone is thrilled to plan a wedding,” the friend adds.
As for Seth, there’s no doubt as to how he feels about Lauren: “I have a girlfriend who is far prettier than I should have,” he’s said.
Seth attended the HBO after party for the second season premiere of “East Bound And Down.” He hung out with friend and former co-star, Danny McBride and Marilyn Manson. Head over to the gallery for the latest additions.
I have added approximately 70 high quality screen captures of Seth’s short segment during the Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon. He did a short bit with his Zack and Miri Make a Porno co-star, Elizabeth Banks. A big thank you goes to my friend, Brianne (www.adriannepalickifan.com) for clipping this for me!
