Irish American actress Anjelica Huston has signed on to star in Anna Kendrick’s follow up movie from her Oscar Nominated “Up in the Air.” Huston will join cast, Philip Baker Hall, James McAvoy and Seth Rogen in filming the quirky movie in Vancouver in the next few months. The movie, directed by “The Wackness’s” Johathan Levine, is a comedy about a twentysomething (McAvoy) who discovers he has cancer and his ensuing battle to fight it. It’s based on the real story of Will Reiser, (he writes the script) who also successfully battled cancer. It is unclear what part Huston will be playing. Dear Seth Rogen …

Michel Roy Thinks US Stars Can Help Canadian Film
Written by Rachel on February 21, 2010
According to reports, Michel Roy, head of Canada’s federal film agency Telefilm, is urging the Conservative government to ease restrictions allowing foreign film actors to appear in publicly-funded movies. Current tax rules require the lead actor or second lead to be Canadian. Roy said he believes more US movie stars would help Canadian movies at the box office, especially English Canadian features, which accounted for only one per cent of Canadian box office receipts in 2009.
Roy says Telefilm, which has invested nearly a billion dollars into the domestic industry since 2000, has been holding discussions with officials at Heritage Canada. Meanwhile Canadian leading actors, including Ryan Reynolds (“The Green Lantern”) and Seth Rogen (“The Green Hornet”), continue to dominate in US films, which leads to speculation that it may not be the ’stars’ of films that attract audiences, but rather universal themes and stories. Expect ACTRA, the Canadian film actors union, that has been lobbying the industry for more ‘Canadian’ stories, to have some choice words over Roy’s new recommendations. At the Cinematic Vanguard Awards, SuperheroHype spoke to upcoming comic book movie villain — Christoph Waltz — about his roles in Green Hornet. Waltz plays L.A. crime boss Chudnofsky, who is attempting to unite the city’s crime families. Waltz explained why his character is against the Green Hornet, and mentions an unsurprising semi-spoiler that Green Hornet may have the villain lose.

It’s going to be a little “Eclipse” reunion on the set of the film tactfully titled “Seth Rogen Untitled Cancer Dramedy.” According to Variety, Bryce Dallas Howard is joining Anna Kendrick and the rest of the A-list cast on the film once titled “I’m With Cancer.” Adding to the class reunion is Summit Entertainment, who will be distributing the film, as well as Vancouver, the set location for both this film and “The Twilight Saga. Fortunately, the two sexy male stars of this film aren’t Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, but rather Seth Rogen and James McAvoy.
Since so little is known about the plot of the film, it’s hard to say what role any of the cast will play in the final print. It’s definitely going to be exciting to see Anna’s and Seth’s very different brands of comedy face off against James and Bryce, who we haven’t really seen show off their comedic chops (unless you consider “Wanted” or “Lady in the Water” comedies). The film still seems a bit far away from a production start date, so hopefully we will see a few more A-listers added to the billing sheet but, if not, these four names are exciting enough to get us to keep this movie in mind as the weeks go on. The Green Hornet, due in theaters this December, will not be your average comic-book movie. I can say that with confidence despite never having seen a single frame for two reasons: One, it stars Seth Rogen, who is many things but surely not a generic action star. Two, it’s being directed by Michel Gondry, the one-of-a-kind French auteur behind head trips like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep.
