After a feverish day-long bidding battle, reports are stating that Universal Pictures is closing a 7-figure deal for an untitled comedy that will have Seth Rogen and Zac Efron attached to star. Rogen and Evan Goldberg will produce through their Point Grey Pictures banner. Deadline.com has ben told that this was an incredible deal that capitalized on the R-rated successes of the summer, and that beyond the 7-figures for writers Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, Rogen will be paid $8 million with a separate low seven-figure producing fee.
Several studios bid on the pitch that will be written by Cohen and O’Brien, who, like Rogen and Goldberg, are Judd Apatow proteges. Cohen and O’Brien will be executive producers. The pitch will be an R-rated comedy that has the tone of Old School.
Rogen plays a regular guy who lives near an alpha male fraternity house. Efron is a member of the fraternity, whose raucous behavior wreaks havoc on the other guy’s family life. The scribes hatched the idea and brought it to Goldberg and it was packaged with Efron and Rogen. The bidding came down to Universal and New Line. Universal made Bridesmaids and New Line made Horrible Bosses, both of which were big R-rated hits. CAA and Alchemy Entertainment repped Efron, and CAA repped the writers. UTA and Principal repped Rogen and UTA repped Goldberg. (Source)

Lucky tourists were treated to two big star sightings this week on the Strip.
Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand were in town to film a movie tentatively titled My Mother’s Curse. The plot tells the story of an inventor played by Rogen who brings his mother (Streisand) along on a road trip as he tries to hawk his latest creation.
The set was closed to the public, but looky-loos were able to sneak a few peeks as the stars shot scenes in and around Caesars Palace. Filming started Wednesday and ended early Friday. A marathon shoot took place late Thursday into Friday morning. All local filming was done at Caesars.
The Vegas shoot marks the end of production on the movie. It has been filming in Los Angeles for the past several months.
When it is released, My Mother’s Curse will join a long legacy of films that use the iconic Caesars Palace as a backdrop. (Source)

Mandate Pictures has confirmed that Seth Rogen will team up with some of his old “stoner friends” for a cinematic trip to the Rasta capital of the world. Rogen and his Pineapple Express co-executive producer Evan Goldberg will team up again for Jamaica, a Will Reiser-penned comedy that will be loosely based on a vacation that Reiser took with his grandmother when he was 14.
In Mandate’s release, Reiser says that the film will be “something of a passion project” for him, and Mandate says the project is already on the fast track. The Wackness director Jonathan Levine is attached to direct, while Rogen and Goldberg will once again produce via their Point Grey Pictures production banner.
The Jamaica team recently collaborated on 50/50, another semi-autobiographical Reiser flick that stars Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The cancer dramedy is set for release on September 30, 2011. (Source)

"Nerds love complaining. You go to Ain`t It Cool News, and everybody complains about everything. They could find out Jesus Christ was making a movie with Frank Miller, and they`d say, 'That`s a terrible combination.'"
